Hello everyone…since I’m a newbie/novice to home theater I have a question as to how to set-up and calibrate my home theater. I have the following components:
Toshiba 65hm167 DLP HDTV
DISH network 301 reg satellite receiver ( NO HDMI)
Pure AV 10 outlet filter/surge protector
Panasonic DMR-EZ475V DVD/VHS recorder/player (has HDMI)
Sony STR-DE997 A/V receiver (NO HDMI)
JVC XL-MC2000 CD Jukebox
Magnavox M61116 in line Amplifier for satellite signal (if needed)
PLEASE help if possible…I NEED a GOOD connection diagram
as everyone I know has given their “best” advice and I’m still having issues. Thanks in advance for any help.

I dabled in home theater years ago, but life and more life got in the way. In recent weeks I’ve started to assemble another system in a small little offshoot of my living room I’m hard pressed to describe any other way. I’ts not a large space at all, so I can go light on the “room filling abilities” for the time. So far my system is as follows:
Toshiba 37″ Regza 37LL66 HDTV. It’ll be the last thing to get replaced, probably with a Sony in the low 50 inch range.
Yamaha HTR-5940 Receiver. No HDMI, but since my plans are eventually to add an HDMI switcher……
Sony SS F7000 front speakers. I was originally going to go with klipsh, not that I don’t like Sony, just never favored their speakers. But the sales person informed me they had made a renewed effort lately and had me listen and I decided on these. We’ll see.
Sony SS B3000 bookshelf’s for the rear surrounds.
Sony SS CN5000 (2) one for the center channel, one for the back surround.
SV Sound 25-31 PCi Subwoofer
Xbox 360 w/ 120G drive
AppleTV w/ 40G drive
Next step, add an HTPC in a nice looking case to blend in. It will have an HD DVD drive to cover my DVD collection playback so I probably won’t have a DVD player for a while.
Last Step will be to upgrade the TV.
This will all give me time to evaluate how well I like the speakers.
