Thanks, and couldn't agree more! I think what's been missing from home automation is the ability to control it away from home. Most people don't have a huge house so they have no use for home automation ...unless they need to use outside of their home.

Since the early days of WinMo, I've been looking for a mobile platform to remotely control multiple home devices around my LAN. I picked up Android late last year and knew that this would finally be it, just had to learn Java.

Just did a quick search and stumbled on this project. It's funny that you all have summed up every piece of that idea. From remotely monitoring networked (motion detecting, infrared) webcams to selecting streaming media based upon the availability in a room. This is the future of the home network and Android has the flexibility to fully realize the administration. Keep up the good work!

Our focus has been on building this forum so the AutoHTN project has been put on hold for a little while. The biggest problem I see with the AutoHTN project right now is not the software on the Android side, but instead the software on the HTPC side. It’s just too damn hard to set up. People shouldn’t have to install 10 programs to get a home automation working so we’re looking for easier to use interface with automation hardware. Once we find something that works, we’ll release a new version of AutoHTN.
