DLP is still popular in the front projector market, but I think Mitsubishi is the only DLP HDTV manufacturer left and they are focused on LaserVue. People just like flat screens so LCD and plasma took over. A few years ago, DLPs had better picture quality than LCDs, bigger screen sizes, and were far cheaper then LCDs. However, today, LCDs have significantly fallen in price with the picture quality improving greatly. This caused companies like Toshiba to stop making DLP HDTVs.

Companies will still value their warranties so there shouldn’t be any issues purchasing a new DLP HDTV. You should be able to get a great price for a larger screen. As long as you don’t want to hang the TV on the wall, DLP is still a good choice. I’ve had a Toshiba DLP for over 4 years now and people still comment on the quality of the picture.

Is it me or is DLP starting to go away? Its too bad because the picture is great and the screens are crazy big. I'm thinking about getting one, but not sure if I want to get an obsolete device. What does everyone think, is is still safe to buy a DLP HDTV?

I would look for 1080p 120Hz models with fast response time and good contrast ratio. Last year's 120 Hz models are available for great prices now. I don't think this year's 240Hz models are worth the money for a 32 inch TV.

Brand preference depends on you and your experiences. I prefer Samsung and Sony.

I'm looking for a TV for my bedroom. I'm thinking in the 32" range even though I'll be watching from about 10 feet away. Any suggestions on a brand or model. There's alot of deals on LCDs right now, but I haven't done any research yet.

I saw the LED HDTVs in Best Buy the other day. They almost look 3-D. Is there any downside to them besides the price?

I haven't seen one yet, but I wish they'd call them LCDs to stop any confusion. I read some reviews online and they were all good. The high contrast ratios were the real plus. I'll try to find one this weekend and take a look.

Samsung is calling them LED HDTVs, but they are really LCD HDTVs with LED back-lighting. The LEDs can be really thin which is how Samsung is getting their TVs so thin. I have to say that the TVs look good. If they could only drop the price.

I'm guessing by both models that you're looking for a 40" TV. If it was me, I would go with the Sony since it has a better contrast ratio and 24p.

I'm looking into getting a LCD HDTV. The max I can spend is $900. I'm thinking about the Sony KDL-40S4100 or samsung LN40B550. Anyone have any thoughts?
